  1. Beware of Mandrill. One of our API keys was compromised, and rather than simply disabling that one key THEY SHUT OFF OUR ENTIRE ACCOUNT. Mandrill no longer has direct tech support (you have to contact them through the Mailchimp help system) and they were nonresponsive to multiple requests asking for help turning our account back on. We were forced to scramble and change service providers across all 40 of our web properties, losing email service for over a week.

Simply put: make sure you’re using a transactional email service where that is the primary business, not an afterthought like Mandrill/Mailchimp.

    1. We had this exact same issue with Mailgun, so be careful there as well.

  2. Saw Cole’s comment and tried SMTPBOXES. Well, they are good enough. I find it a con that it is a bit slow to send a campaign of 50k emails. For transactional emails within the 500 emails/hour range they all send simultaneously.
    Thanks for the post.

  3. I have tried all of the mentioned here.
All stopped me from email marketing which was very frustrating.
I found smtpboxes and would like to recommend it to all people having issues with the providers in this article especially mailgun (everything went to spam).
If I had to sort them sendgrid would be somehow decent and at the top of this list.

  4. Having quite some difficulties with Sendinblue.
Transactional emailing stopped working and support quality is quite low.
now waiting more than a week for a solution.

I could not event start using it. I created an account and asked for the transactional email service and they blocked arguing security validation issues in my profile. They should not show that as a feature if the cannot actually offer it…

  5. Moosend is the worst service , there is no support email , not any chat support

    1. Completely not my experience. Their support is one of the best I’ve experienced.

      1. @PETER
        Not true.

  6. WPSMTP works flawlessly for me. I use the “other” selector and add my email host credentials. Done. Just remember if you change your password to also change it in your WPSMTP settings.
