The answer really depends on your hosting needs. When you’re starting out, simply choose their shared hosting plan. DreamHost has only a single shared hosting plan, which makes it easy to get started with an account. If you want to create an online store, then we recommend using their WooCommerce hosting which is specifically designed to handle eCommerce websites.
Can DreamHost handle high traffic?
DreamHost is capable of handling high traffic. But keep in mind that it all depends on the plan you choose. If your site starts consuming too much resources, then DreamHost will ask you to upgrade to a higher plan.
Can I upgrade my DreamHost plan later?
We always recommend users to start with the smaller plans and upgrade as needed. DreamHost makes it very easy for you to upgrade.
Does DreamHost offer a month-to-month payment option?
Yes! DreamHost offers month-to-month payment option. However, keep in mind that they offer significant discounts for longer-term deals.
Can I create subdomains in DreamHost?
Yes, you can easily create subdomains in DreamHost using the cPanel.
Do I have to register my domain name with DreamHost?
No. While you can claim a free domain name while purchasing a hosting plan, you’re not obliged to register a domain name with DreamHost. You can use Godaddy, NameCheap, or any of your preferred domain name registrar.
Does DreamHost offer free SSL?
Yes, DreamHost offers free SSL with all of their plans. Ecommerce plans come with dedicated IPs and private SSL.
Do I need to purchase the addons that DreamHost offers me?
No, you do not need to purchase any addons at the time of purchase. Should you decide that you need them later, you can always add them to your account.
Does DreamHost really offer unlimited disk space and bandwidth?
Just like any other hosting company, DreamHost also advertises unlimited resources. When they say unlimited, it just means that you don’t have to worry about disk storage or bandwidth because you get enough resources to operate a small site in a normal condition.
Can I create an ecommerce site on DreamHost?
Absolutely. DreamHost’s WooCommerce hosting plan comes pre-configured with all the things you need to start an online store.

Sometimes hard to get through to but when you do, they are quite helpful. I find the site interface quite easy to use especially for people who are comfortable with FTP and uploading their own cocntent. A good starter service.

We have been with DreamHost for almost 13 years and haven’t regretted it for a second. They are affordable, reliable, and their Customer Support is incredible. My last support inquiry was literally resolved within 10 minutes. I would give them 10 stars if I could.
Dreamhost has gotten arrogant. As much as their competitor (the one with the scantily clad women in their ads). When is unlimited space not unlimited? Well, it’s not unlimited when they say it’s not. We are serving up our own content and we are serving the community. DH has chosen the path of profit over promises. We plan to look elsewhere. I have contacted tech support and they were not helpful at all.

Love this amazing company. The Interface is extremely easy to use and I have had no issues. I have contacted support with questions and they get back to you in a very timely fashion and are extremely helpful and knowledgable. I landed at Dreamhost by accident but it was a great find. I’m loving the experience here.
On the few times that I’ve posted issues with DreamHost, their responses were quick, professional, and took good care of the problem.
When they needed more information from me, they were clear on what they needed. Recent example: a redesign of the Panel side menu seemed to fail on Safari for me, but work on Firefox. They couldn’t reproduce the problem, so asked me for a little more testing. Testing on my end showed that the problem, though reproducible earlier in the day, had now “healed”. All good, and very professionally dealt with on their end.
I’ve been consistently happy with their responsiveness, and the sense that there’s a real human on the other end, doing what he or she can to help out.

I have NOT had success with DH support. My site has been attacked by a spambot and over a week later, the issue is not resolved. The site has now been taken down by DH due to the large number of log files being generated. My submitted tickets are being answered (but not all) with a link to a knowledge base article and not always specific to even my issue. There is no ownership of customer support tickets and they seem to be closing them faster than I can open them as long as they provide a link to a support article. Very dissatisfied with DH at this point and am contemplating going back to my former hosting company as their customer service was impeccable.
Dreamhost has lived up to its name. It is a dream come true to have reliable hosting and a great support staff available for my websites.
The best support by far that I have seen. I had to move 3 sites to them and it worked very well without issues. I´ve only been a customer for about 2 weeks now but so far 10/10.
