Snippets by IsItWP

Are you looking for a way to set a minimum password length within the profile editor? While there’s probably a plugin for this, we have created a quick code snippet that you can use to set minimum password length for profile editor in Easy Digital Downloads.

Instructions:

All you have to do is add this code to your theme’s functions.php file or in a site-specific plugin:

function pd_edd_pre_update_user_profile( $user_id, $userdata ) {
	// How many characters should the password be?
	$length = 8;
	$password = isset( $_POST['edd_new_user_pass1'] ) ? $_POST['edd_new_user_pass1'] : '';
	if ( ! empty( $password ) && ( strlen( $password ) < $length ) ) {
		edd_set_error( 'password_too_short', sprintf( 'Your password must contain at least %s characters.', $length ) );
	}
}
add_action( 'edd_pre_update_user_profile', 'pd_edd_pre_update_user_profile', 10, 2 );
