Snippets by IsItWP

Are you looking for a way to create custom taxonomies? This snippet lets you create your own custom taxonomies for the usual or custom post types.

  1. Add this code to your theme’s functions.php file or in a site-specific plugin.
  2. Change the tag name ('my_tags') and label ('My Tags') on line 2 to your own tag name and label. Optionally change the post type ('post') to whatever post type you’d like.
function my_taxonomies() {
     register_taxonomy('my_tags', 'post', array('label' => 'My Tags'));
add_action( 'init', 'my_taxonomies');
