Extend WordPress Visual Editor

Are you looking for a way to add more useful buttons in the WordPress visual editor? While there’s probably a plugin for this, we have created a quick code snippet that you can use to extend WordPress visual editor to add hr, del, ins, and more buttons.

Instructions:

All you have to do is add this code to your theme’s functions.php file or in a site-specific plugin:

function add_more_buttons($buttons) {
 $buttons[] = 'hr';
 $buttons[] = 'del';
 $buttons[] = 'sub';
 $buttons[] = 'sup';
 $buttons[] = 'fontselect';
 $buttons[] = 'fontsizeselect';
 $buttons[] = 'cleanup';
 $buttons[] = 'styleselect';
 return $buttons;
}
add_filter("mce_buttons_3", "add_more_buttons");
