Display Hidden Custom field _values

Snippets by IsItWP

Are you looking for a way to display the custom field value prefixed within an underscore _value? While there’s probably a plugin for this, we have created a quick code snippet that you can use to display hidden custom field_values in WordPress.

Instructions:

All you have to do is add this code to your theme’s functions.php file or in a site-specific plugin:

add_action( 'admin_head', 'showhiddencustomfields' );
function showhiddencustomfields() {
	echo "<style type='text/css'>#postcustom .hidden { display: table-row; }</style>\n";
}

Note: If this is your first time adding code snippets in WordPress, then please refer to our guide on how to properly add code snippets in WordPress, so you don’t accidentally break your site.

    I don’t think it’s working for me… It should allow me to select hidden (underscore prefix) fields from the post editor screen in the custom fields section, right? I can select other custom fields but don’t see any _… ones. Not on posts or pages. Is it supposed to work for both? Thanks.

    1.  Hi Cliff, it should, Ill take a look and test this snippet with the most recent version of wordpress.
