How to Get Page ID by Its Name in WordPress

Snippets by IsItWP

Are you looking for a way to get the page ID using get_page_id? While there’s probably a plugin for this, we have created a quick code snippet that you can use to get page ID by its name in WordPress.

Instructions:

All you have to do is add this code to your theme’s functions.php file or in a site-specific plugin:

//Function
	function get_page_id($page_name){
		global $wpdb;
		$page_name = $wpdb->get_var("SELECT ID FROM $wpdb->posts WHERE post_name = '".$page_name."'");
		return $page_name;
	}

Then, call the get_page_id() function inside a template file wherever you need the page ID:

	get_page_id('contact');

Note: If this is your first time adding code snippets in WordPress, then please refer to our guide on how to properly add code snippets in WordPress, so you don’t accidentally break your site.
